
FormShift Vancouver is an open competition; anyone may enter. However, the competition categories lend themselves expertise in architecture, urbanism and sustainable design. FormShift jurors, supporters, and sponsors (including the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver), and their employees are not eligible.
Submissions must consist of digital design for two A1 size (594 x 841 mm) panels, content oriented portrait-style. All submissions must be provided electronically, either on CD/DVD or by FTP download (for FTP instructions, please email communications@aibc.ca). Digital files must be in either PDF or JPEG format, at 300 dpi. Submissions must also integrate up to three paragraphs, each no more than 100 words, of text that identifies the goals pursued and challenges addressed.
Winners as well as other submissions selected for post-competition exhibition will be requested to produce and provide mounted panels suitable for public display. These will become the property of the competition.
While contact information for entrant teams or individuals must be provided, submissions themselves must be anonymous for the adjudication process. Submissions containing distinctive graphics, logos or other identifying content will be disallowed.
Submissions are to be original works, and participants assume responsibility for any breach of intellectual property or copyright entitlements of others. Submissions may consist of or include previously used concepts and work. However, it must be adapted to the requirements of this competition, including any site specifications for the chosen award category.
By making a submission, contest participants agree to all terms of the competition. Submissions that are non-compliant with the competition requirements will be removed from consideration by the contest’s professional advisor.
Note: As this is a design competition, it does not entail the actual construction of submitted projects.
Entry Fee
The fee is $100 per entry, or $50 for interns or students enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Competitors are welcome to submit more than one entry. However, a separate entry fee is required for each submission.
